Changing Our Thinking

Changing our own thinking is possibly one of the greatest challenges in life and one of the most rewarding. It also can be easier than you may conceive.

For things to change, I must change. For things to get better, I must get better.

Okay - so how do you do that? That's a very powerful question and if you are asking yourself this, then you may already be charting a new course.

I believe it begins with discipline in creating the change. If you want a body like Arnold you aren't going to get it with day dreaming alone - although that is a start by seeing the end in mind. At some point, you actually have to find your way to the gym - not just once but day after day after day after day; for years!

Oh, but Guy, that's a lot of work! Of course it is!

How long have you been alive? How many years has it taken for you to get where you are? You realize it IS YOUR THINKING that has you where you are; today, right now; nothing else. Period. Our thinking creates our reality whether it is true or not and it guides our philosophies, decisions, and beliefs.

You want that new car, house, living the dream with the perfect family? It's all possible. How so? Others have done it and many have done so starting from the gutter of life. So YES, you can too. It begins with a decision and then more importantly, managing that decision.

An exercise I've done in the past was writing out my "Perfect Life." I did this every day for about six months some 20 years ago. At that time most of it just seemed like a dream - but, I desired it.

Well, none it happened 'over night' and that journal got put away. A couple years ago, my wife and I were looking for something and I came across that journal. I opened it and as I read what I had written 20 years earlier, I sat STUNNED as the vast majority of that 'perfect life' we were now living. Say WHAT???? Holy Moly - did that really work that way?!

Well, why wouldn't it have? I not only created the landscape in my mind for that change, attracted the opportunities, I jumped on them when they surfaced. I then put "thought" into action - just like Arnold - even though I may not have realize it at the time.

Our universe is complex. We may never truly understand it all and how we interact fully with it. I don't really need to know as fascinating as I find it to be. What I do know is there are mechanics we can follow if we truly desire change.

I have a new daily journal I'm now writing in every morning upon awakening with one pretty lofty business goals. Although they will stretch me I know they are also very possible and thus I believe deeply in them. The people I will help as a result is worth every trip to that gym.

So how about you? Are you willing to start a journal describing your perfect life and commit to it as a new daily habit?
